The honors and accolades have been vast for Buckhannon-Upshur athlete Emily Godwin, and now she has taken her career to the next level.
On Tuesday, Godwin signed her Letter of Intent to continue her track career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Godwin was an All-State track and soccer star, while earning the Gatorade West Virginia Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2012.
She considered West Virginia University, Penn State University and the University of Virginia, but ultimately felt UNC was the best place for her.
"I got a call from them and it went to voicemail and North Carolina, there was just something about it that just kind of stuck with me," Godwin said. "Once I met the coaches and I went down for an official visit, it all just fell into place."
