The US Department of Agriculture has approved a $750,000 loan for a new armory and conference center in Upshur County.
The facility on Brushy Fork Road will be the site for the new West Virginia National Guard and the conference center will be managed by the county's convention and visitor's bureau.
Officials said the loan will cover costs ahead of time for equipment purchases and legal fees.
The project should be finished by the end of 2014.
