West Virginia University's Extension Service held a program Wednesday in Kingwood on natural gas pipelines.
Two speakers came to the event; one man, who had firsthand experience with a company putting a pipeline in his land, and another who discussed the environmental side of the issue.
A representative from WVU explained what organizers wanted the public to take away from the program.
"We want them to be educated. We want non-biased information, we want research based information, regulatory information, things that they know are truthful. If someone is going to approach them about having a pipeline on their property, they know where to start and who to go to for help," said Georgette Plaugher, WVU Extension Service Program Coordinator.
WVU will hold a similar program next Tuesday in Randolph County.
