The Glenville State football program welcomed in nearly 25 new players on National Signing Day. Pioneers Head Football Coach David Hutchison is coming off a 2012 season where he led the team to a second-place finish behind Shepherd for the WVIAC Championship.
Among the new recruits in Glenville, Lewis County linebacker Derek Clem was one of the local players who decided on the Pioneers. Hutchison said nearly 10 players have already arrived on campus for the spring semester.
Glenville State is coming off a year in which it finished runner-up for a conference title, including freshman running back Rahmann Lee winning the award for National Freshman of the Year in NCAA Division II College Football.
As the play on the field increases, so will the facilities.
Glenville State College is in the process of building the much-anticipated Waco Center, which will house the basketball and volleyball teams. But the school is also building an extension on to the football facility, which will include box-style suites and new coaches offices. Sue Morris Field will also receive renovations, laying down brand new field turf along with new seat-back bleachers to enhance the game experience for Pioneer fans.
