A Randolph County student who fought a vaccine requirement will not only get her high school diploma Saturday, she'll graduate at the top of her class. Randolph County Schools and the health department
Fairmont State University hosted a "Wear Red" night at Thursday night's basketball game to honor one special little girl and other children with congenital heart defects.
Organizers encouraged fans to wear red in support of children with congenital heart defects.
Paula Hatten's daughter Ella was born with a congenital heart defect. She said one in 100 babies can be affected by a heart defect and that it's important for mothers-to-be to ask their doctors about their children's heart development.
"We were so excited that Fairmont State University put out the wear red. This is Congenital Heart Defect week actually from February 7 until February 14. It was so exciting that the end of the week that we would have all these fans wearing red in support," Hatten said.
