MORGANTOWN -
Around 400 high school musicians went to the Creative Arts Center at West Virginia University Thursday night to audition for WVU's 34th Annual Invitational High School Honor Bands.
The students are from West Virginia and the surrounding states, including Virginia and Pennsylvania.
"The band directors at their high schools nominate them," said Anita Lawson, the WVU Bands Program Assistant. "We ask them to send their best students and that's what they do, they nominate their students. We take as many as we can from the schools. We have over 100 schools from about five or six states."
The students will perform at WVU's Creative Arts Center Saturday at 2 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
