Holiday Inn & Suites Charleston West has undergone a facelift in recent years, and hotel owners are being recognized for their work.
Intercontinental Hotel Group presented the hotel with the 2012 Renovations Award in October at the organization's national conference. The award recognized the hotel's work to join the IHG family of brands, including extensive interior and exterior renovations.
The Charleston location celebrated one year under the Holiday Inn & Suites brand Feb. 16.
"The renovations have finally been completed with the addition of our two new elevators and curtains in the guest rooms," said Melissa Stricker, director of marketing and revenue management for the hotel. "We waited to announce the award within the community until the elevators and curtains were finished.
"We want to put our best foot forward for the Charleston community, and our guests who are visiting the area."
The hotel also incorporated new amenities and furnishings in the guestrooms, changed the location of the entrance and renovated 100 percent of the public spaces within the hotel, including the Charleston Conference Center and indoor pool.
The hotel's parent company also owns the Wingate by Wyndham in South Charleston and Hampton Inn Southridge, both of which also have been recently renovated.
The Holiday Inn & Suites Charleston West has 150 guest rooms located on six floors. It includes more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant and weekend comedy entertainment.
