The West Virginia Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for agricultural grants.

Almost $200,000 will be available as part of the 2013 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.

Commissioner of Agriculture Walt Helmick said the grant applications will be more streamlined this year.

The grant offers farmers in the state a chance to compete for funds that might otherwise go to other farming states.

Helmick said only about two percent of the population provides food for everyone in the country.
