Air Evac flew a man to the hospital Monday evening after officials said he was hit by a vehicle in Marion County.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department said the accident happened around 6:15 p.m. on Hess Road in Worthington.

The man was hit by a white Jeep Cherokee which fled the scene.

The sheriff's department said the man was alert and conscious before being flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital. 

The Marion County Sheriff's Department is currently searching for the vehicle.
