A man was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Harrison County 911 officials said it happened around 4:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Target in the Meadowbrook Mall.

Officer Hammond of the Bridgeport Police Department said the man was leaving the store when a woman driving a car accidentally hit him.

Hammond said several pedestrians witnessed the accident and helped to keep the man comfortable until first responders arrived on scene.

Bridgeport EMS transported the man to United Hospital Center with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries, according to Hammond.

Bridgeport Fire Department also responded to the accident.
