A driver led Clarksburg police and Harrison County Sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase early Wednesday morning, injuring a pedestrian and damaging a parked car and a home.

Jeremy Nicholas, 30, of Stonewood is now charged with fleeing while DUI and more charges are pending.

An officer first spotted the car at 2:10 a.m. on Milford Street, where police said the driver went onto the sidewalk, hit a pedestrian, and fled the scene. Police said the man was treated at United Hospital Center.

More officers joined in the pursuit as the car traveled onto Hartland Avenue, where they said it hit a parked van.

Nicholas eventually turned down Roosevelt Road, which is a dead end. Instead of stopping, though, police said Nicholas went through the deck attached to a home and steered the car over a hillside.

Nicholas then ran from the vehicle, leaving his girlfriend behind. She was not seriously injured.

A K-9 unit found Nicholas near Van Buren Street around 3 a.m.

Nicholas was taken to UHC for treatment and was original released on bond. Nicholas is currently in North Central Regional Jail for a parole violation. His bail is set at $15,000.
