With pools finally opening up and temperatures usually rising, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. But you wouldn't have known judging by how empty local pools were Saturday, when temperatures lingered in the 60s.
The town of White Hall has requested an extension of its corporate limits from the Marion County Commission.
White Hall wants to annex just over 19 acres.
Commission approved a first reading of the resolution Wednesday.
The next step of the annexation process will be a public hearing.
"I saw a lot of people that were for it. I don't know the specific reason; we'll find that out at the public hearing. I would imagine it's because of the city services that would be provided," said Randy Elliot of the Marion County Commission.
That public hearing will be held March 13 at 10 a.m.
