Local Organization Provides Insight on Identifying Child Sexual Abuse

BUCKHANNON -

The Hall Neighbors House in Buckhannon held a training session on Thursday on identifying the signs of sexual abuse involving children.

Mountain CAP conducts this training once every three months.

Advocates said one in four girls and one in six boys are sexually abused each year in the United States.

"A lot of people don't know how many children are sexually abused, and it's a problem in our county, and throughout the state and everywhere, and we're just trying to raise that awareness and let people know what they can do to prevent that," said Sherry Valure of Mountain CAP.

The training is called "Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children."
