WCHS Students Gets Hands-on Journalism Experience

Posted: Updated:

Webster County High School students are getting some hands-on experience in journalism and media arts.

They shoot video at school events, such as Thursday's high school basketball action, and stream it live on the Internet for people to watch.

The school has received almost $20,000 in grants for equipment. The students said they love the experience.

"I think this is a great opportunity for our kids here to work on this like this with adobe premiere," said student Joe Collins.

WCHS students are able to learn more than media production. In the multimedia arts class, students learn the importance of deadlines, critical thinking, and problem solving.

"I like it because of the theatrics. Just being able to take footage, just random shots and being able to turn it into something that's really entertaining and pleasing to the eye," said student Jessica Smith.
