MORGANTOWN -

If the winter blues are getting you down, maybe some traditional Appalachian music will cheer you up.

The 35th annual Gardner Winter Music Festival is this weekend in Morgantown. Worley Gardner started this festival in the 1970s and volunteers kept it going.

The event has continuous on-stage performances, workshops, informal jam sessions, and socializing.

"It's a part of the history," said Eb Werner, co-chair of the event. "The folks that are all through this building right now are, let's say, demonstrators of old history. So in a way it's an education thing but it's definitely an entertainment thing."

The music festival continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at South Middle School in Morgantown.
