A pair of Lewis County Minutemen signed National Letters of Intent on Friday morning. Wilson Harvey and Jon Jerden, both of Lewis County, signed with local WVIAC teams.
Harvey, a 6'1, 245 pound offensive and defensive lineman, signed with West Virginia Wesleyan. The senior standout led a Lewis County defense to a second round berth in the Class AAA State Tournament, ultimately losing to George Washington.
Jerden, a 6'0, 175 pound senior, played all over the field at running back and defensive back. He was also instrumental in guiding the Minutemen to a successful 2012 season.
Both said they are ready for the next level.
"It's just like a dream come true, really," Jerden said. "Its always been a dream to play high school football and then that accomplishment, there was even a bigger dream to keep on going and go through college. It's just a dream come true to play."
"Its just been a blessing to be here," Harvey said. "I believe I'm ready for the next level. I'm going to work harder than ever. I think it's a great blessing and opportunity to be able to play at Wesleyan as well."
