MORGANTOWN -

The Morgantown Ice Arena was home to the girls Pennsylvania Amateur Hockey League playoffs Feb. 23-24.

The Morgantown Hockey Association submitted an application to host the playoffs for girls 10 to 14 and 15 and older.

The Morgantown Hockey Association wants to let people know how far they've come since not having a team five years ago.

"The tournaments are kind of a celebration. What I want people to know is hockey is growing in Morgantown," said Todd Gookin, of Morgantown Hockey Association. "There's an opportunity for your kids to come out whether they're boys or girls and participate in a house league, travel league, or even our high school leagues that we participate in. There is all kinds of opportunities for them to get started."

The U19 championship game was played by Pittsburgh teams. The team from Morgantown lost to the number one seed on Saturday.
