Update

The U.S. Marshals Service has apprehended a man who escaped from the Taylor County Community Corrections program on February 22, according to Tammy Narog, of the Taylor County Correctional Facility.

Butch Michael Shugars, 20 of Flemington, was apprehended by the marshals' service around 12:30 p.m. on March 3, Narog said.

Shugars was participating in the Taylor County Community Corrections program for a daytime burglary offense before he escaped.

The marshals' service had the area in Flemington where Shugars was found under surveillance for several weeks and used information collected from people in the area to apprehend and arrest Shugars, according to Narog.

Shugars faces an additional one to five years for escaping from the correctional facility, according to Narog.

Shugars is back in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail until his next hearing.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Department needs your help locating a man who escaped from the Taylor County Community Corrections program around 12:30 p.m. on Friday Feb. 22.

Butch Michael Shugars, 20, of Flemington, was participating in the Taylor County Community Corrections program for a daytime burglary offense.

Shugars was last seen wearing a black and gray striped toboggan, a black and gray hooded jacket, and jeans. He has black hair and blue eyes.

He has contacts in Barbour, Taylor and Marion Counties.
