West Virginia Wesleyan College has honored a former state senator.

Senator Mike Ross gave Wesleyan $20,000 to support the simulation lab in its nursing department.

The college thanked Ross by naming a room in the nursing department after him.

Ross said he's glad to help improve the school's program in the growing field.

"We have a great demand for them, we're gaining an aging population, we need more of them. Healthcare business is the leading business in the nation right now, so it's a good field to get into," said Ross.

Wesleyan is collecting money for a separate challenge grant and said Ross' donation will help it reach its goal.
