PRESTON COUNTY -

James Metz, 69, was in Preston County court Monday for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Metz left two boys alone in his house earlier this month. One of the boys dropped Metz' gun and it discharged and shot the other.

Metz is a registered sex offender from an incident in 1980 involving a female family member.

Preston County Prosecuting Attorney William Means said probable cause was found. The case will be bound over to the grand jury.
