Limited Number of Movies Nominated for Oscars Available in Stores

Posted: Updated:

The Oscars is one of the biggest events of the year for the movie industry.

F.Y.E. in the Meadowbrook Mall is feeling the effects of the awards show.

Store manager Joshua Spurbeck said the day after the Oscars customers came in looking for nominated movies.

But, the only movies currently available that were nominated for best picture are "Argo" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild."

"Argo" won the award, and Spurbeck said sales of the movie have been consistent since the Golden Globes, but he feels like he's letting customers down when they can't purchase other movies at the store.

"It's frustrating cause it's the most popular time of year for these movies and they're not available for people that want them here and now, so by the time they're available, people might have forgotten about them already," Spurbeck said.

A complete list of best picture nominee release dates, courtesy of F.Y.E., is below:

"Silver Linings Playbook" - April 30

"Zero Dark Thirty" - March 19

"Lincoln" - March 26

"Les Miserables" - March 22

"Life of Pi" - March 12

"Amour" - No set date

"Django Unchained" - April 16
