The West Virginia Small Farm Conference is going on at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown through Saturday.
The conference hosts vendors and holds more than 70 farming classes.
Organizers said the conference is about helping to grow farming in the Mountain State.
"There is about a $3 billion food market up and down I-64. We've done lots of research and proved that we have the acres to raise that food, but we don't have the farmers. We've got the demand, but no farmers," said Tom McConnell, of WVU Extension.
In 2012, West Virginia ranked 47th in net-farming income.
