The Marion County Commission received notice that a new Verizon Wireless tower could built in the Baxter community.
The Federal Communication Commission submitted a packet to the commissioners at its Wednesday meeting describing its plans to build the new tower.
Marion County Commissioner Randy Elliott said the tower would be an asset to the Baxter community.
It would not only improve cell phone service but improve emergency communications in the area.
