BRIDGEPORT -
Every year schools and libraries across the country celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday and Read Across America Day.
The Bridgeport Library celebrated on Saturday with a Dr. Suess themed party.
The party was based off his book, "If I Ran the Circus."
The kids read the book, played games, did crafts and got their faces painted.
Youth Services Librarian, Crystal Hamrick, said the party benefits the children while they have fun.
"This is their opportunity to bring their kids out to interact with other kids and things like that. A lot of the preschoolers they haven't developed that yet, so this is a good opportunity for them to learn to interact with other kids. It's a party, but it's more about an educational opportunity," said Hamrick.
The next kids' event at the Bridgeport Library will be a St. Patrick's Day party on March 16th at 1 p.m.
