Vehicle Fire Shuts Down I-79 South in Monongalia County

A vehicle fire near Westover shut down the southbound lanes of I-79 Sunday evening.

MECCA 911 reported the fire at 6:05 p.m., and called several units to the scene.

Both southbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes while crews battled the fire. One lane reopened after 6:30 p.m. and the highway completely reopened shortly after 7 p.m.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
