    Municipal elections in Salem and Clarksburg are upon us, and voters are getting the chance to meet the candidates.
    Municipal elections in Salem and Clarksburg are upon us, and voters are getting the chance to meet the candidates.

Municipal Elections were held in Belington on Tuesday, but only one seat was contested.

James Lawrence defeated incumbent Jerry Phillips in the race for the Ward 1 seat on city council. Lawrence received 15 votes, while Phillips received 11.

In uncontested races, voting results were as follows:

Mayor Carlton Haller, 55

Marshall Reed (Ward 2): eight

William Bobby King (Ward 3): seven

Suzanne Skidmore (Ward 4): 11

The results will be made official next week.
