The Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) at Webster County High School has earned its way to the national competition.
The group competed in the state competition last weekend in Huntington.
Webster County High School had 40 students competing in categories ranging from physical therapy to sports medicine to vet science.
Twenty-two of them brought home awards.
West Virginia State HOSA Secretary/Treasurer is Allison Walters, who was elected by HOSA members and selected for office through a rigorous interview and testing process.
First-place winners were as follows:
Parliamentary Procedure Team: Megan Hall, Beth Smith, Tyler Anderson, Robbie Isabell, Lance Stout, Brooke Davis, Sarah Helmick, and Austin Hayes
Physical Therapy: Brianna Rumney
Vet Science: Misty Rule
Home Health Aide: Joy Bean
Medical Law and Ethics: Morgan WIlliams
Dental Science: Nebraska Overfield
Second-place winners were as follows:
Human Growth and Development: Sara Ervin
Nutrition: Chelsea Jordan
Sports Medicine: Drew Green
Community Awareness Team: Cheyanne Coombs, Trenton Hayes, and Shelbie Simmons
Third-place winners were as follows:
Pharmacology: Bethany Young
Barbara James Service Award: Cody Myers
The national competition will be in June in Nashville. Students from the Fred W. Eberle Technical Center will also attend.
