Clarksburg City Council has joined the discussion on the sequestration tax cuts.  It is concerned about the impact of the cuts on the air traffic control tower at the North Central West Virginia airport.

The Benedum Airport Authority will distribute council's resolution to Senators Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin, and Congressman David McKinley.

Mayor Patsy Trecost said right now the airport is controlled from Ohio.

"What we're worried about is that we don't want somebody telling everybody the runway is clear in another state. We want somebody saying the runway is clear because they're there at the site," Trecost said.

Also on the agenda at Thursday's meeting, council held its first public hearing on the 2013-2014 budget.

Mayor Trecost said the budget has grown but that the city still can pay its bills without raising taxes.
