Three people were injured and taken to area hospitals following a two-vehicle collision in Upshur County on Friday afternoon.

Deputy Virgil Miller of the Upshur County Sheriff's Department said it happened around 1:10 p.m. on Route 20, near the Upshur-Barbour county line.

Miller said a 20-year-old man driving a Chevy Impala was traveling southbound when he drifted left and struck a pickup truck head-on.

Miller said the man was trapped in his car for 45 minutes before emergency crews could extricate him from the vehicle.

He was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery, according to Miller. His name is not being released at this time.

George Hefner of Weston, who was driving the pickup truck, and a passenger were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. Miller said their injuries appeared to be non life-threatening.

Fire departments from Warren District, Buckhannon, and Anmoore responded to the crash.
