FAIRMONT -
A public forum was held on Saturday to end child poverty.
Our Children, Our Future: The Campaign to End Child Poverty created its top five statewide priorities for 2013 and shared them with the public.
Some of these issues included putting healthy foods in schools and getting health care for more than 100,000 working families.
One of the organizers explained what they hoped would come out of the forum.
"We're hoping to find out what the needs are in each of these individual communities in this area and what we can do, what services we can put into place to help those, and how we can get the community to step up and take action and do what needs to be done to help our children," said Paula Taylor, community services manager for the Department of Health and Human Resources.
Taylor said the organizers hoped the public would write to legislators about the priorities they had chosen.
There were two legislators from the area that answered questions and talked about the priorities, and how they could help in Charleston.
