Barbour County Library Hosts Dog Tales

Posted: Updated:

Some kids in Barbour County were given a paw Saturday afternoon as they practiced their reading skills.

The Philippi Public Library hosted its first Dog Tales.

The Barbour County library brings in Mountaineer Therapy Dogs for children to read to.

The pups help relax the students as they freshen up their skills.

"Dogs are great listeners, they're not going to worry about whether they mispronounce a word or anything like that or stumble across things, so it gives them a little more confidence in their reading skills, and gives the kids a chance to hang out with the dog," said handler Nicole Klee.
