With pools finally opening up and temperatures usually rising, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. But you wouldn't have known judging by how empty local pools were Saturday, when temperatures lingered in the 60s.
A public comment period is being held in connection to a proposed floodplain ordinance in Doddridge County that stems from a lawsuit involving county commission, EQT, and property owners.
The Doddridge County Commission approved a modified floodplain ordinance at its last meeting and is holding a public comment period until March 25.
Modifications include setting minimum standards for the county's floodplain coordinator.

The commission plans to hold a first reading at its first meeting in April and could pass the proposed ordinance at the end of April.
