Morgantown Jimmy John's Employee Accused of False Armed Robbery Report

A Morgantown Jimmy John's employee called 911 to report an armed robbery but when troopers arrived on the scene, they found the alleged missing items in the employee's car.

According to West Virginia State Police, Jeremiah Rankin, 25, reported the robbery around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Rankin, employee at the Stewartstown Road location, claimed that someone stole cash, food, and other items.

Troopers found items matching the description of the stolen items in Rankin's car.

Rankin was taken into custody after making the false 911 call.

Rankin is in North Central Regional Jail on misdemeanor charges of obstructing police, giving false information, reporting a false emergency, and withholding information.
