Weston Residents Make Plans for Future Dog Park

WESTON -

Several dog lovers in Weston, including Mayor Julia Spelsberg, met at Kathy's Riverside Restaurant on Saturday to discuss plans for a potential dog park in their city.

Some of the topics discussed included parking, security, site preparations, and budget.

The group decided to divide themselves into sub-committees for public relations, facilities, community resources, and fundraising.

Angela Batten volunteered to help with sponsorship and fundraising for the park.

She owns three dogs of her own and is excited about the project and giving them a place to play.

"I think the dog park is super important because any time a dog can exercise and socialize more, it makes them a well behaved animal, and that's easier for us pet owners to kind of control our animal when they're well exercised and more socialized," Batten said.

The group is trying to gain more support from the community and is looking for input.

The group is hoping to have the project complete by next fall.
