Former Shinnston Police Chief Arrested for Stealing Rifles from Department

West Virginia State Police have arrested a former Shinnston Police Chief in connection to stealing two fully automatic M-16 rifles from the Shinnston Police Department.

Donald Book, 75, is charged with two counts of grand larceny and two counts of receiving or transferring stolen goods.

Former Shinnston Police Chief Mike Secreto, who was terminated from his position in January, won't be charged for giving Book the rifles, according to Harrison County Prosecutor Joe Shaffer. Secreto isn't facing charges because he cooperated with the investigation, Shaffer said.
