A modern, convenient care is the cornerstone of Davis Health System's new Outpatient Care Center.

Construction work continues on its $13 million project.

The new state of the art medical building is being built next door to Davis Memorial Hospital's emergency department. Despite some issues, the building is really starting to take shape.

"We had some trying times through the winter fighting the weather and everything, but now all our of our steel is here, we got all the trates on site, the construction process is picking up pace right now," said Steve Johnson, building coordinator with Davis Health System.

The 73,000 square foot structure will accommodate up to 20 physicians, exam rooms, minor procedure rooms, and a registration area. A new central entrance to both the hospital and the outpatient care center will be located on Gorman Avenue.

Construction officials said when this $13 million project is complete, patients will have services to this outpatient care center all in one location.

"Go into a three story office building see the doctor right beside the physician office building will be our outpatient testing. Lab, X-Ray, anything on the outpatient nature. So hopefully the patients come in one door, see a doctor and exit the same door," said Johnson.

Workers and hospital administrators said they're excited about this opportunity for growth and providing the best possible care to their patients in a modern facility.

"This is their hospital and their project and they put that pride into their craftsmanship, and its going to be shown when this facility is complete just how these workers have enough pride, they wanted to be here, and their doing the best they can for our facility," said Jeri Trippett, building coordinator.

"It's an outstanding vision that the board and administration has, how their looking into the future, and how their using a different mechanism of delivering care to the patients," Johnson said.

The center is scheduled to open early next year.
