A person is dead Wednesday after an accident at the Harrison Power Station in Haywood, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirms.
The accident happened around 8:50 a.m. at the power station, which is a FirstEnergy Plant.
David Bergman, 57, was a contractor employed with Burnham Industrial Contracts of Pittsburgh, an insulating company, according to the W.Va. DHHR.
FirstEnergy said Thursday that Bergman was fatally injured after falling into duct work. He was removing insulation to prepare for an upcoming maintenance outage. FirstEnergy said safety measures were in place to prevent direct contact with the duct and it's not clear how he came to fall.
Bergman was transported to United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
The Lumberport Fire Department, First Energy, the state medical examiner, and OSHA are all investigating.
