BRIDGEPORT -

The North Central West Virginia Airport in Bridgeport could lose its air traffic control tower because of the sequestration, according to airport director Rick Rock.

The closure hasn't happened yet, but if it does, 24 people will lose their jobs.

The Benedum Airport Authority met Wednesday to discuss that possibility and some possible solutions if it does happen.

"We don't want to be reactive we try to be proactive. With that, we're looking at airport facilities, or t-hangers, we're looking at contingency plans for potential loss of the air traffic control tower. Certainly, we're doing everything we can to fight our way off that list," said Rock.

Rock said the Federal Aviation Administration has to give the airport 12 months notice before the tower closes.
