Allstate Insurance of Fairmont presented Pet Helpers with a check on Friday.
Pet Helpers received a $5,000 Good Hands Foundation grant. The grant helps with the cost of caring for the pets that were sheltered from Preston County during Superstorm Sandy.
"We pulled eight pets from there, and for Pet Helpers to pull eight pets, that's quite a financial hardship on us. You're talking probably about $300 per pet," said Terry Buretz of Pet Helpers.
Pet Helpers was able to spend $2,000 in leftover funds to buy insulated Igloo dog houses for outside dogs at the shelter.
