Fire at Vacant Randolph County Church Suspicious

Update

The State Fire Marshal's Office is calling the fire that damaged a vacant church in Elkins "suspicious."

It happened on March 24 at the Central Baptist Church in Elkins.

The fire started in the front of the church and damaged its bell tower, roof, and sanctuary.

The rest of the church sustained smoke and water damage. The fire is still under investigation.

A fire in Randolph County Saturday night leaves a former church in ruins.

The fire happened just after 11 p.m. at the former Central Baptist Church in Elkins.

Firefighters said the building had been vacant.

Fire broke out in the church's bell tower, roof, and sanctuary.

The State Fire Marshal is being called in to investigate.

Fire departments from Leading Creek, Elkins, and Beverly all responded.
