Senator Jay Rockefeller visited the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Fairmont Tuesday to announce its new state-of-the-art weather prediction facility.

NOAA has been working for several months to add high performance supercomputers and three new weather antennas at the facility.

The facility will help meteorologists, like our own Jason Parrish, make more accurate and advanced weather forecasts across the country.

"It's very good news for West Virginia. It's very good news for this facility and for the whole Northern West Virginia which is extraordinary in how fast it's growing," Rockefeller said.

NOAA's new antennas will communicate with weather satellites designed to improve weather and seasonal climate forecasts across the country.
