Stonewall Resort's Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course held its opening day on Saturday.

The weather was in the high 50's and the sun was shining.

"We're really fortunate that we've had the sunshine, everybody has been waiting for this I think all winter long. We'll probably have between 60 and 70 players today," said Randy Hernly, a PGA Golf Pro for the course.

Perfect weather made for a great opening day and the golfers were out to enjoy it.

"We are so happy to be able to be out here and see this sunshine, it's just amazing. The golf course is in great shape and we're looking forward to being out there for many more rounds this year," said Steve Dunham.

"It's a nice day to be on the golf course, nice way to celebrate Easter by being on the golf course," said Tony Louk.

The course got 70 new golf carts for this season and in each of them is a GPS system.

"It allows the players to know yardages, distances to the target. It also allows a lot of communication as we're finding out today, they can communicate with us, and we can communicate with them. It will just really enhance the experience for the golfer," Hernly said.

The new GPS system will be helpful to both the golfer, and the management.

"In case of emergencies and those kinds of things, we really like the management function of this system. It helps the golfers, but it helps us to run the golf course better also," Hernly said.

It was the first day for the golfers to test out the new system, and the reviews were positive.

"I think it's going to help a lot with the speed of play, and its going to be a very neat addition to Stonewall Resort," Dunham said.

And the system even allows the golfer to order a meal before the round is over.

"It is really neat to be able to hit that button and communicate with them and have lunch ready, and a couple of cold drinks," Dunham said.
