Volunteers said the problem began when Monongalia County condensed the committees overseeing the park into one.
On a normal day, the Morgantown Chick-Fil-A has hundreds of customers. On Thursday, it had even more.
Ten percent of Thursday's proceeds will go toward the Sergeant Michael Todd May Memorial Scholarship fund.
Chick-Fil-A said it's seeing support from all over the community.
The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department said the county has really stepped up to keep Sergeant May's memory alive.
"Anything we can do to just promote that scholarship in honor of Todd, I think he really would've appreciated it," said Sgt. James Burks, of the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department.
"We just wanted to definitely give back and Chic-Fil-A as a company is all about giving back. We just wanted to give back to our local community too," said Amanda Tussart, Chic-Fil-A general manager.
