Clarksburg City Council approved a second reading of the ordinance to acquire the Rose Garden Theater, Thursday night.
Clarksburg City Council met Thursday night to discuss ‘The Robinson Grand Theater', also known as the ‘Rose Garden Theater', that the city plans to acquire.

Buckhannon City Council had plenty to discuss at its meeting Thursday night.

First, council members approved the second reading of an ordinance regulating smoking in public areas.

The ban on smoking in places like city parks, for example, goes into effect in 30 days. A local parent said this will give her kids the chance to have fun in smoke-free environment.

"It's very important because then they can have actually breath and have fun and not worry about having to run into smoke and have it in the face and I think its very good," said Rachael Fox of Buckhannon.

Council also approved the financing for the armory and conference center. The city will take out a 30-year financing bond for $765,000 through the United States Department of Agriculture.

"The building commission has to borrow money to buy the building or lease the building and they in turn will lease it back to the city of Buckhannon. It's a necessary step," said Mayor, Kenny Davidson.

Also at the meeting, Councilman Scott Preston submitted his resignation. Council will be take applications to replace him.
