Fairmont Community Leaders, FSU Students Continue to Revitalize Fifth Street Park

Posted: Updated:

Fairmont community leaders have been working for several months with Fairmont State University students and volunteers to revitalize Fifth Street Park.

They've installed a new putting green, swing set, and play structure at the park.

They'll soon install West Virginia's first public outdoor, rubberized basketball court.

Community members even came to clean up the park on Saturday.

"We know this summer is going to be a big summer for Fifth Street Park. The new basketball court is going to be installed in the next few weeks. Then we will have a community garden. This place is going to be booming and we want to make sure we are ready for that," said Kathy Wyrosdick, Fairmont City Planner.

Once the basketball court is installed Fairmont residents will begin working on the community garden.
