The National Park Service is looking for volunteers to help assist them at the New River National River during the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.

The jamboree will be held this summer from July 15 to July 24.  While the scouts are at the Summit Bechtel Family Scout Reserve, park rangers with the New River Gorge National River are looking for help.  There are three jobs that the National Park Service needs help with.  Those include supervising scouts while they build trails, manning information tents at the Summit Center during the Jamboree and helping to operate Canyon Rim and Sandstone Visitors Centers.

Training for the volunteer positions will take up one day in June.  The National Park Service wants people who are able to commit at least two days to volunteer, in addition to the training day.  Hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for trail volunteers, 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 for visitors center volunteers and 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for those who man the information tents.

To sign up, you can contact the New River Gorge's Volunteer Coordinator Adrienne Jenkins by email at adrienne_jenkins@nps.gov or by calling 304-465-2634.  You can also get in touch with the Chief of Interpretation Robin Snyder by email at robin_snyder@nps.gov or call 304-465-6523.
