Friends Of Deckers Creek Discuss Marcellus Shale Drilling

Posted: Updated:
MORGANTOWN -

The Friends of Deckers Creek hosted a symposium on Sunday about Marcellus Shale Drilling.

One woman from Greene County, Pennsylvania was at the meeting to speak about her experiences with natural gas drilling and the effects it can have.

An environmentalist also spoke about the effects drilling can have on water supplies.

The main goal for the meeting was to learn.

"There's so little that people know, a lot of public disconcert, things seem not to be correct, or that they should be worried about it from a common sense perspective," said Marc Glass, Downstream Strategies. "But, there's not a lot of hard information about that. So that's what we're trying to provide."

"The Deckers Creek watershed right now doesn't have any active gas drilling in it, so we want to get ahead of any potential pollution problems that future development could impact or cause," said Elizabeth Wiles, Friends Of Deckers Creek.
