WEST UNION -

The Doddridge County Commission met on Tuesday with a full agenda.

At its last meeting on April 2, the commission voted 2 to 1 to remove the Doddridge County Ambulance Authority's board of directors.

Randy Flinn, executive director of the Authority, was at the meeting on Tuesday to present his report on financial matters and the Authority's run numbers, in the absence of the board.

Flinn said the Ambulance Authority is still running smoothly.

"I hope they appoint a board that's neutral and will work together to help organization grow. Day to day operations I took care of with the board, and we still continue to operate two ambulances 24/7, so there's been no interruption of patient care," said Flinn.

The commission voted to table a decision on a replacement board until its May 7 meeting.

It also received the final copy of the flood plain ordinance.

Now it's up to the public to read the ordinance and make suggestions and comments.

"We're going to read it, and we're going to have it for the public to read, they'll have access to it, and we'll take comments again. Our final reading will be coming up at our next meeting. It's a lot on the county right now. It's a big thing, this flood plain ordinance, and it has to be right," said Commissioner Ralph Sandora, Jr.

Doddridge County residents may read the ordinance at the Doddridge County Clerks Office, or you can call the courthouse and request a copy.

The public has until May 7 to make comments. If any changes are made to the document, it will then go back to the first reading.
