The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Elkins could receive federal funding for flood damage reduction projects.

President Obama's $110 million spending plan for fiscal 2014 includes money for activities including project inspections, levee screenings, and coordination between local and federal agencies.

The Corps said it has proposed $56,000 for projects in Elkins.

The budget also includes $47.1 million in operation and maintenance funds to provide reliable navigation on the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers.
