MORGANTOWN -

Mylan Park hosted the second annual Wild Warrior Challenge on Saturday.

It's a 5K race mixed with an obstacle course, inspired by National Guard training courses.

Some of the obstacles included mud crawls, climbing walls, and climbing rocks.

The course was designed by the WVU Army ROTC and the proceeds go to a good cause.

"I use it as a training tool for the cadets, for project management and planning, military decision making process, and at the end of it all we take the proceeds from it and donate it to military charities, local military charities as well," said Lt. Colonel Daniel Rice, WVU ROTC.

Even though the course was tough, competitors said it was fun.

"It was actually fun. It was hard at first cause you had a lot of mud to go through, and going up the hill it was like, ‘what's the rest of the race going to be like?' but it actually got better once you got about half way through," said Laura O'Hara.

Almost 500 people competed in the Wild Warrior Challenge.
